Abu Dhabi Gold Shopping Guide

Madinat Zayed Gold Centre

The largest gold shopping centre in Abu Dhabi. Located near the Corniche, it houses over 400 gold and jewellery shops. Competitive pricing and a wide variety of 24K, 22K and 21K jewellery. Best for bulk buying and South Asian jewellery styles.

Hamdan Street Jewellery Shops

Central Abu Dhabi’s Hamdan Street has a concentration of jewellery stores. Convenient for city-centre shoppers. Slightly higher making charges than the gold centre but easy to browse multiple shops.

Yas Mall & Marina Mall

International jewellery brands including Damas, Malabar Gold, and Joy Alukkas. Higher making charges and fixed prices, but better for certified international jewellery and brand warranties.

VAT Refund for Tourists

Abu Dhabi International Airport offers VAT refunds on gold jewellery purchases. Keep your original receipts and present them at the Planet Tax Free kiosk before departure. The refund is most of the 5% VAT paid.

FAQs — Abu Dhabi Gold Rate

What is the gold rate in Abu Dhabi today (July 21, 2026)?

The gold rate in Abu Dhabi today is the same as the gold rate across the UAE. Gold prices in the UAE are set daily by the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG) and apply uniformly to all emirates including Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Sharjah and others. Today’s rates are shown in the table above in AED per gram for 24K, 22K, 21K and 18K gold.

Is the gold price the same in Abu Dhabi and Dubai?

Yes. The base gold price (the gold rate for pure metal by weight) is the same throughout the UAE because it is set centrally by the Dubai Gold & Jewellery Group (DGJG). What may vary slightly between Abu Dhabi and Dubai is the making charges (craftsmanship fees) added to jewellery. Abu Dhabi mall shops may have slightly different making charges than the Dubai Gold Souk.

Where can I buy gold in Abu Dhabi?

The main gold shopping destinations in Abu Dhabi are: (1) Madinat Zayed Gold Centre — the largest gold souk in Abu Dhabi, known for its wide selection and competitive prices; (2) Hamdan Street jewellery shops; (3) Yas Mall and Marina Mall jewellery stores; (4) Dalma Mall. Madinat Zayed Gold Centre offers the best value similar to how Dubai’s Gold Souk operates.

Are gold prices cheaper in Abu Dhabi than Dubai?

The base gold rate is identical in both cities. However, making charges on jewellery can sometimes be slightly lower at Abu Dhabi’s Madinat Zayed Gold Centre compared to tourist-heavy Dubai Gold Souk shops. The difference is typically 2–5% on making charges, not the base gold price itself.

Does Abu Dhabi have VAT on gold?

Yes, the same UAE-wide 5% VAT applies to gold jewellery in Abu Dhabi. Investment gold (bars and coins with 99% purity or higher) is exempt from VAT throughout the UAE including Abu Dhabi. Tourists can claim VAT refunds on jewellery at airports when departing the UAE.
