18K Gold in Dubai — The Diamond Jewellery Standard

18K gold (750 hallmark, 75% pure) is the international standard for diamond-set and branded fine jewellery. Walk through Dubai Mall, Mall of the Emirates, or any luxury jeweller in the Gold Souk and virtually every diamond ring, tennis bracelet, and branded piece will be 18K. The 25% alloy content makes it strong enough to hold prong settings and pavé stones securely — something 22K or 24K cannot reliably do.

Dubai offers three varieties of 18K gold, all sharing the same 75% gold content and the same per-gram rate:

  • 18K Yellow Gold: Warm classic colour. Traditional jewellery and designer pieces.
  • 18K White Gold: Silvery-white, achieved through palladium or nickel alloy + rhodium plating. Preferred for diamond rings.
  • 18K Rose Gold: Warm pink tone from copper-heavy alloy. Popular in modern and Italian-style pieces.

Buying tip: When buying 18K diamond jewellery in Dubai, the gold price is only part of the total cost. Diamond quality, setting type, and making charges (typically 15–30% for diamond pieces) significantly affect the final price. Use our Gold Calculator to verify the gold value component separately.

18K Gold Dubai — FAQs

What is the 18K gold price in Dubai today (July 21, 2026)?

Today's 18K gold price in Dubai is displayed in the table above in AED per gram. 18K gold is 75% pure gold (750 fineness). It is the dominant karat for fine jewellery in European and Western markets and is popular in Dubai for designer and branded jewellery. Rates are updated daily from the DGJG.

What does 18K gold mean?

18K gold contains 18 parts gold and 6 parts alloy — 75% purity, stamped 750. The 25% alloy (typically copper, silver, palladium, or nickel) gives 18K gold its durability and can produce white gold or rose gold varieties. 18K is significantly harder than 22K or 24K gold and is preferred for rings and fine jewellery that withstand daily wear.

What is the difference between 18K white gold and 18K yellow gold?

18K white gold and 18K yellow gold both contain 75% pure gold. The difference is in the alloy: white gold uses palladium, nickel, or silver alloys to produce a silvery-white colour, often with rhodium plating. Yellow gold uses copper and silver alloys. Both have the same gold content and very similar prices — the price difference comes from craftsmanship and rhodium plating cost.

Is 18K gold a good investment in Dubai?

18K gold contains 75% pure gold, making it a reasonable store of value. However, for pure investment purposes, 24K gold bars are more efficient — lower premium over spot and easier resale. 18K jewellery has making charges (10–25%) built into the price, which reduces investment returns. 18K is best when you want a piece you'll also wear.

Why is 18K gold less common in Dubai Gold Souk compared to 22K?

Dubai Gold Souk caters heavily to South Asian buyers who traditionally prefer 22K and 21K for jewellery, associating higher karat with higher cultural and investment value. 18K is more common in European and branded jewellery stores in Dubai malls (like Pandora, Cartier, Tiffany). However, 18K is widely available in the Gold Souk — you just need to ask specifically.
